The One I Like to Call: The $30 -Coke- Slurpee

To begin, let me share this piece of Slurpee Bliss with you.
The Slurpee Facts.
You will see the last fact is that the average Slurpee drinker is age 29.
That fits in perfectly with the story I am about to tell you,
as I teeter on the edge and will be 28 soon.
See, back in November of 2008, after reading some articles on the effects of caffeine, I gave it up COMPLETELY.
Cold. Turkey.
I had a few days of headaches, but that was it.
Then...well then I discovered I was expecting a baby, and the ONLY thing that I wanted was a
Coke Slurpee.
So, after much debate and much excuse making, I decided an occasional 20 oz. Coke Slurpee would be okay.
It is mostly water and air anyway right?
Well, for the last six months or so, I have been getting 1-3 Coke Slurpees a week, that is until mid April, when, in my opinion all hell broke loose on the Slurpee front.
Apparently our credit card through our bank was compromised sometime in early spring, along with a bunch of other members' cards, so they turned off our card...and they were SUPPOSE to send us new cards...(which they still haven't...)
...so began the money transfer from our joint checking into MY photography checking.
That way, we would still have a Visa card to use at the store, the gas pump, and well, you know 7-11
for my Slurpee runs.
The cost of a 20 oz. Coke Slurpee in Utah right now is $1.38.
SUPER cheap right?
And let's not forget SUPER DELICIOSO!
Well, one would think, until I get a text from Hubbs one dreary afternoon stating:
"DON'T USE YOUR VISA CARD ANYMORE! THERE ARE TWO CHARGES OF $25 EACH!"
Wha?! WHAT!? Furious I text him back..."HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!"
Apparently he transferred all of the money out of my account without telling me...and guess what wasn't covered?
My Coke Slurpee.
Commence tears.
Did I really just spend $26.38 on a 20 oz. Coke Slurpee?
Tears.
Needless to say, Hubbs claims it was a ploy to get me to stop drinking them.
And I haven't since.
I am too mad at him, and too mad at the fact I could have had a new shirt instead of a freaking Slurpee.
He is forbidden from taking money from my checking account ever again.
Oh man, how I wish I had a Slurpee right now...TEARS.
Although, I must admit this flavor has caught my eye...although I have never seen one here.
What flavor would you spend $30 on?

Blue Lemon = Deliciousness
Last week I had the AWESOME opportunity to go to dinner at the FABULOUS
Blue Lemon Bistro
nestled in the foothills of gorgeous Alpine, Utah.

Just the logo makes my mouth water.

I was SO lucky to have been invited to this grand opening of the Blue Lemon with one of my gorgeous BFF's...and also a TON of really neat blogging ladies. I canNOT wait to get them all on my sidebar for my reading pleasure. It was so much fun getting to know them over such delicious food.

Look at the details on these dishes. This was a salmon dish. It looked SO good.

This is what I ordered. I love me a good BLT and this one was a
Lemon-Lime Grilled Chicken BLT.
It did not disappoint.

Here is mrs. r sampling the delicious "acai" berry smoothie. (Like all good things, the acai berry is from Brasil just like Hubbs. Need I say more?) If you haven't sampled acai (pronounced a-sai) it tastes (to me) a lot like fig. It is really good for you. Try it sometime.

So as we wound up the evening we took a photo of the aftermath. I HAVE to tell you about the MOST delicious soup I have ever had. So delicious in fact that YESTERDAY I took J-dawg on a date to the Blue Lemon JUST so I could have another bowl...mmmmmmm
Tomato Bisque. Go, if not for anything else but this, it is D-vine.
J-Man ordered the spaghetti and gave it two thumbs up. He ate it all gone!
Loving the mac and cheese. I got some take-out for Memms and ate almost all of it myself. (Shh, don't tell she didn't notice.)

Here is a pic of me (and a 21 week old Millz) as we toured the lovely restaurant. I had no idea I would match the decor so beautifully.
And beautiful and modern it is! The table tops are a scruptious sparkly blue. They SPARKLE...could be the best thing ever. Intermixed are some gorgeous chocolate brown tables as well.

mrs. r in front of the dessert. The thing I love about Blue Lemon is that they support other local businesses and bakers in the area, from their bread to their yummy cupcakes.

I NEED one of these RIGHT NOW.

There is a lovely little coffee and smoothie shop open early for breakfast.

Oh, and HOW cool is THIS? They offer cooking classes! For adults AND kids. You better believe my kids will be enrolling this summer.

The ice...it is divinity...it is that "pebble-like" ice that they have at hospitals. Mmmm. And these Blue Sky drinks are au-naturale. Loved the Wild Raspberry.
Blue Lemon is extremely green. Their soda cups and take out are all COMPOSTABLE. YES you heard me...the plastic is made out of: Get this: CORN.
BOMB.
So, needless to say I am addicted. I can't wait for Lychelle (the beautiful owner who is not only a birth mother, BUT also a NEW adoptive mother...perfection right?) to open up one near our house. Hear that Chelle? I will even take one at The District if you are wondering.
I am stealing this creative goodness from Kami (also, guess what? She is an adoptive mom, so cool right?) over at no biggie. (Thank Kami!)

I am SO embarrassed to be posting this. I have had it as a draft for a month. Actually did this as a favor for my dear friend mrs. r.
It is just too greasy. I secretly love it.

So delicious, I can't handle it.

For V-day my sweet Hubbs and children came home with gift cards to Target.
Last week, I used said gift cards to buy these damask lovies. If you come to my house, please ask me to get you a drink in one of these.
They are so lovely I cannot handle myself. I just want to eat them, and can often be found licking them.
Just so you know.

Today.
Today I cleaned all three of my bathrooms. Yuck.
Today we watched Narnia in Portuguese, on my bed...nice and cuddled.
Today I showered at 3:30 p.m. Unfortunately not before this photo was taken.

Today I hugged and kissed on these lovies.

Today we made cookies.

Secretly...

Or not so secretly anymore I guess, I freaking love this show. If I could get my butt out of bed a half hour earlier to watch it each day I would...just to watch it. Secretly, I kind of get excited when my kids wake up that half hour earlier so we can. Tee hee.
Why do I like it so? Well, I think it is just a smart show. I really think the writers do a great job at making it "smart". For me, as an adult, I love it, but my kids love it too.
One of the funniest things is the titles and words they use and manipulate to title the show etc. For instance, Memms and I were watching this week and the title of one such show was, "Vomitrocious". Hilarious no? Reminds me of how this lady talks. So we began watching and I laughed seriously out loud. It was about puking in school (everyone's worst nightmare no?!) and teasing the kid who always got a bloody nose (I don't recall that...but seriously funny stuff.) After the little show was over they had real kids talking about puking, complete with drawings and animation.
Anyway, I am laughing right now just thinking about it. I highly recommend. Shhh, don't tell you heard it from me, I might deny it.

First of all...
Aunt Flow: I hate you.
Second of all: Jason's Deli, I love you.
This is a picture of my "HALF" sandwich. Half. Ya...looked like a whole to me, but I was mistaken. I love Jason's Deli. Love their fruit, it is always so fresh and yummy and the BLT is TDF. Yes...I love bacon...I love all sorts of meats. I really need to STOP eating them though. I am beginning to ramble on and on.
Just wanted to share with you some of my hates and some of my loves.
What do you hate? What do you love?

So the race was on Saturday. My friend Shannon and I woke up DARK and EARLY Saturday morning, at 3:45 a.m. to drive to Providence, Utah where the race ended. We got on the bus at about 6:15 a.m. after we found mrs. r at the last second! YAY. And there we were, driven 13.1 miles away from the finish line, 13.1 miles away from our cars, our families, with the only solution, to run/walk/crawl back...
Here is Shannon crossing first. She had only ever run a 10K...so that is six miles, she kept saying that she would have to walk, have to walk...as I as walking/limping...I never ever spotted her...she smoked us and crossed the line first in our group. Way to go Shannon!
Next to cross was mrs. r she is STELLAR...I was so proud of her for finishing...and watching for me to finish...she ran up to me and made me bawl a little...saying, "You did it!" "Look at your family, look at your kiddies!" That did it...
So, here we all are...tired, beat...but done! And alive.
Our hott matching tanks...
And the discrace that all there was at the finish line for those left over runners...(almost three hours) were orange slices, water, and some gatorade. Seriously. I almost bawled, I was SO hungry.
My little family went to Einstein Brothers for breakfast before the long and tiring drive home. I just wanted food, and my bed the rest of the day. I jacked up my ankle somehow...hope it gets feeling better soon...ow. It was so great to spend the day with people that I love, people that I care about, doing something that is important...something I thought I could never do, so happy I did it.
As for that marathon? Gosh darn it, I forgot all about this wonderful workshop I signed up for that is the same day. I'll have to think about doing another one...

Changing our Style!
(Too bad these photos suck! They were shot on ISO 100,000,000! I wondered why I was getting such great shutter speeds.)
So, while I was in Chicago, I read this FANTASTIC article in LDS Living Magazine. (Another Guilty Pleasure of mine) Anyway, in the mag it talked about ways to change your life, to change how you feel about your body, about YOU! One of the topics of this article was asking a lot of questions like, "Do you make a list of healthy foods and meals before you go to the grocery store? Do you buy and then prepare the meals for your family?" I thought this was BRILLIANT! I talk until I am BLUE in the face about how I wish I was thinner...how I wish we ate better. Well, I realized it wasn't going to happen unless I MADE IT HAPPEN! I was bound and determined when I got home I would do this with my family.
So, since I was so FREAKING sick last week, I'll admit we ate out a lot and my kids survived on snacks a lot...it was all I could do for a few days to lift my head off the pillow! Last Saturday I went to the grocery store and stocked up on all stuff GOOD. And I have been making meals! Then, low and behold I read this on Tara Whitney's blog! Now, my photos DO NOTHING in comparison with hers...but I have had these "school" trays around forever...wondering what the "H" I was going to use them for. Tara...you are a GENIUS!
Yes...that IS Emmaree eating a carrot! And she ate BROCCOLI. Now, if I can just convince Joth to do the same, we'd be good. Anyway...we totally snacked while we made dinner, and I felt no guilt at only having carbs and protein on our plates. We're rockin' it over here at our house!
By the way...I began training today again for that half marathon that is coming up. Hubby expressed an interest...and now I have him on board! We ran 2 miles...and almost died...but we did it!
Today was a great day.

Dear Aunt Flow:
No, this is not a picture of Aunt Flow, but thanks to Carly for visiting me and bringing me the best possible solution for my dilemma ever!
She brought me this tonight. Mmmmm. I can't thank her enough. I'm eating a bowl of it now then it is off to bed. Aunt Flow can suck it.

Love Potion #31. Oh how I love and despise you all at once.
